A History of The H. Poll Electric Company

The H. Poll Electric Company is a wholesale distributor of electrical products and automation components. Henry P. Poll started our business May 31, 1919. From 1919 to 1940 our business was located at 512 N. Erie Street in Toledo, Ohio. Henry moved the business to its present location in 1940 and this location serves as the company headquarters.

Henry retired from Poll Electric in 1956 and the business was run by his two sons, Alonzo H. Poll and Richard M. Poll. Alonzo (Lon) served as president of the company until his retirement in 1979. Richard M. Poll served as president from 1979 until his retirement in 1988. From 1988 to present Henry's grandson Richard W. Poll serves as president.

In 1972 the company opened its first full service branch facility in Findlay, Ohio. In 1979 a second full service branch facility was opened in Defiance, Ohio. From Toledo and the two branches we service customers in the entire northwestern Ohio and southeast Michigan area.

Our customer base consists of 2300 active customers: industrial MRO, original equipment manufacturers, electrical contractors. commercial contractors, building management companies, institutions, hospitals, educational facilities, and utilities.

We offer a variety of services to our customers: next day delivery of orders, 24 hour emergency service, training, application assistance, start-up assistance, trouble shooting, part number identification, inventory adjustment program, bar coding, wire cut to length, and a variety of informational reports.

We employ 57 employees in management, outside sales, inside sales, accounting, information systems, counter sales. warehouse, delivery, and technical support engineers dedicated to providing unparalleled service to our customers.
